One of a Kind show Spring 2012

It has been a year since I did this spring show! Woohoo..time pass too fast!!
I miss last year's show because my parents came to Canada to visited the show. It was their first time to see the art/craft show and get an sense about what I have been doing in Toronto! Their visit is meaningful for both of us.

This is my booth at last year, 2011 spring One of a Kind show.

So I catched up the last minute to see the show today.

I LOVE Jesse Broom's galss works!
Finally I got this lovely tote bag from Bookhou, it's one of the hit item in downtown Toronto.

Tetsuya Ishiba 石田 徹也(1973-2005)

I saw Tetsuya's surrealistic paintings before.  Typically from most of his paintings,  you will see the emotionless man interacts with the industrial life in a grey tone. You might receive the depressive atmosphere and agree with Tetsuya's vision of our life. It's very impressive and totally inspiring.
However when I look at his work again, I have another different feeling since I noticed he's not in this crazy world anymore...

Tetsuya Ishida (石田 徹也 Ishida Tetsuya?) was a Japanese painter, best known for his surreal portrayal of an ordinary Japanese life. He was accidentally killed by a train in 2005.

Making things & Selling things

Every year when approaching to Christmas, I kind of have a mood of shopping ( or I have that mood all year round actually). The holiday's atmosphere makes people go for shopping, to look for something for family & friends, and of course for yourself.
The craft shows that taking place around the city is a must to go. Not only for looking for the beautiful and unique things, but also it's a chace to getting to know the handmade world and meet the makers directly, to embrace and support the artists' endeavor of their creation. This is an incredible experience for both maker and buyer, and also, this is what you can't get when you shopping in the mall.
My sweet friend plus studio mate Jen  Kneulman participating the OOAK Christmas show from Nov 24th- Dec 4th.

When I walked in Sonja's booth I felt like I walked into a cozy bunnies world. It totally blew me away!! I want to have the whole booth as a collection, does she have this option or can I afford it? hmmm...

The One of a Kind show will open until this Sunday, if you didnt check it yet, hope you can grab a chance to visit and you will surprise!

New website

Recently I renew my website: www.shuyulu.com. I made it on OPP, a website that help you to create your own website in a straightforward way! All I need to do is choose the templates (standard format)  that they provide and upload the images & documents onto it. It's a really helpful one for the artists I think and I strongly recomment it to whoever want to create a simple website for your art profolios.
Loving it!!

Cozy

I made these needle felted brooches and now selling on  My Etsy shop.
When Im making these sculpture-like needle felted  brooches, it's remind me Yayoi Kusama's work- round shape sculpture and always with her signature polka dot pattern. Her work inspired me alot.
